In this remarkable bayt, there’s something truly enlightening: Aqa Maula TUS prays to Allah to grant the talib al-iilm the tawfeeq to learn and understand the meanings of al-Quran al-Majid. At the same time, he beautifully expresses that Allah Himself is the Moula of the talib al-iilm, guiding and nurturing their journey toward sacred knowledge and the commitment of the maani or the meanings of al-Quran al-Majid to heart through memorization.
But notice, Aqa Maula TUS doesn’t simply mention the lafz (words) of the Quran. Moula TUS specifically points to its maani, its meanings. This subtle, intentional wording holds a deep truth: memorizing the Quran isn’t just about reciting its verses, it’s about internalizing its divine meanings. And those meanings can only truly be understood through the light and guidance by Awliyaa Allah.
This is what makes true hifz so special. It’s not just the act of committing the Quran to memory, but doing so under the radiant guidance of the Awliya Kiram, who open our hearts to the layers of meaning within each verse. A true talib al-ilm, then, is one who memorizes not just for the sake of knowing, but for the sake of understanding.
As I reflect on my own journey of memorizing the Quran, I realize how incredibly fortunate I am. In His Holiness’s immense compassion, Aqa Maula TUS has included us, humble students like me, in the noble category of talib al-ilm. Moula TUS has shown us that true memorization isn’t just physical, but spiritual. That it is not enough to memorize the words; we must strive to grasp the divine meaning of the Quran.
There is no gratitude sufficient to repay this gift. With every ounce of gratitude in me, I feel an overwhelming sense of shukr – thankfulness, for the chance to walk this path under his gaze. This honor, this opportunity, this identity as a talib al- ilm is one I could never have earned on my own, it is pure naimat (blessing) from our Moula TUS.
Today, many may memorize the Quran but how many truly protect its meanings in their hearts? That is the distinction this bayt so beautifully captures.
And so, Aqa Maula TUS reminds us: such a lofty path requires tawfeeq from Allah Ta’ala. It cannot be achieved by effort alone. It calls for ikhlas (sincerity), istiqamat (steadfastness), and a deep, unshakeable bond with our beloved Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS. May Allah Ta’ala answer this heartfelt prayer within us. May He grant us the strength, sincerity, and clarity to memorize al-Quran al-Majid in a way that honors both its words and its meanings, and that earns the happiness and loving nazar of our Moula, whose teachings light the path of true hifz.
And may Allah Ta’ala bless our Aqa Maula TUS with a long, healthy, radiant life until the Day of Qiyamat. Ameen!
